Congressmember Kamlager-Dove Hosts Juneteenth Book Reading at Culver City Library

Efforts to educate on the importance of Juneteenth continue at the youngest ages. Congressmember Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-37th) hosted a Juneteenth Book Reading for kids at the Julian Dixon Library in Culver City on Thursday. She was joined by Culver City Unified School District Board Member Triston Ezidore and Los Angeles County Library Director Skye Patrick to read books to young children in attendance.

The Veterans Collective & Greater L.A. VA Celebrate Groundbreaking of Two New Supportive Housing Buildings on West L.A. Campus

On Friday, the Veterans Collective (TVC) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles along with federal, state, and local elected officials celebrated the groundbreaking of two new supportive housing developments that will provide a total of 87 new homes for Veterans experiencing homelessness on the West Los Angeles VA North Campus.

UCLA Community Objects to Arrests of Pro-Palestinian Students and Other Observers

Yesterday morning at UCLA, more than 45 students and other community members were arrested by campus police (UCPD) in a parking structure on campus. The group, a coalition of UCLA students and faculty, some of whom two weeks ago raised a Palestine Solidarity Encampment, were detained for four hours in the parking lot and later charged by UCPD for conspiracy to commit burglary. Members of the press and legal observers were also arrested. Local leaders, UCLA faculty, and labor groups condemned the mass arrest.
