Airline Workers at LAX Advocate for Harsher Penalties for Unruly Passengers

Flight attendants and other airline workers at LAX were handing out fliers advocating for stricter regulation of unruly flight passengers Tuesday. This “Assault Won’t Fly” campaign was started by members of the Transport Workers Union of America in June 2022 to push for harsher penalties like public prosecution and an addition to a no-fly list for disruptive passengers.

“Route Zero Relay” Kicks Off with Local Leaders and Advocates Calling for Strong Clean Car Standards to Put Us on the Route to Zero Emissions

Today, the Route Zero Relay kicked off at the end point of historic Route 66 on the Santa Monica Pier. Local Councilmember Phil Brock of Santa Monica, Susana Reyes, City of L.A. Board of Public Works, Chanel Parson, Southern California Edison, Director of Electrification, Ed Begley Jr, Actor, Producer, and Climate Activist, and others held a press conference urging strong public support for zero-emissions vehicles. The speakers also encouraged the Biden Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finish the job by finalizing the strongest option for the newly announced round of federal clean car standards.

We take no particular pride in calling for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s resignation. Though she’s never been progressive, she has chalked up some major legislative accomplishments and governed in a fairly noble, almost too bi-partisan spirit since taking office 30 years ago. We were among those who cheered when, in 1992, California elected two women, Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, to the Senate before California was really true Blue.

As potential major changes to abortion medication access could take a key abortion medication out of the United States market, Supervisor Lindsey Horvath led a discussion on the Abortion Safe Haven Project, which was instituted in L.A. County following the 2022 Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade, at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting held Tuesday.
