Lady Bruins Fall to LSU, 78-69, Ending NCAA Tournament Dreams
The UCLA Bruins women’s basketball team ended a fantastic season on March 30 with a back-and-forth loss to the LSU Tigers. Even though UCLA was the higher-ranked seed, they came into the game three-point underdogs. The Bruins looked like they had a legitimate chance at a title this season, but the reigning national champions, led by the SEC Player of the Year Angel Reese, certainly have their own plans of repeating this year. The Bruins would end up playing a sloppy game and losing to a much more consistent and battle-tested veteran team.
Lady Bruins Narrowly Edge Out Creighton, 67-63, to Advance to the Sweet 16
The Creighton Bluejays gave UCLA everything they could handle Monday night at Pauley Pavillion but the Lady Bruins hung on to win a tight game, 67-63. The Bluejays by no means had any intentions of laying over for the higher-ranked Bruins. Finishing their regular season 26-3 in a typically competitive Big East conference, the Bluejays boasted an outstanding offense that averaged nearly 74 points a game and amassed the nation's top free-throw shooting percentage at almost 83 percent.
Lady Bruins Defeat Cal Baptist in NCAA Tournament Opener, 84-55
After a few weeks off, the UCLA Lady Bruins must have been itching to get back on the court for the NCAA Tournament following their double overtime loss to rivals USC in the PAC-12 championship. It was particularly frustrating given they took both games against the Women of Troy during the regular season.
