Street Vendors No Longer Banned From Doing Business at Popular L.A. Locations

The L.A. City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the city’s current street vending laws which previously prohibited street vendors from selling goods in seven areas -- the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Bowl, Dodger Stadium, L.A. Live/Crypto.com Arena, Universal Studios City Walk, El Pueblo De Los Angeles Historical Monument, and Exposition Park. Those areas will now be open to these portable small businesses.

City Council Exploring Options to Curb Rise in Street Racing Happening Across Los Angeles

The L.A. City Council Public Safety Committee on Tuesday received a presentation by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) on the street takeovers and road racing which have become a common occurrence in the city. The committee also heard a motion by the Board of Police Commissioners and City Administrative Officer on reports relative to the takeovers.

Candidates seeking office aren’t the only people busier than ever as the Primary Election rolls closer. In preparation for Measure HLA’s possible passage on March 5, the Los Angeles City Council’s Transportation Committee held discussions Wednesday with the City Administrative Office, the Planning Department, and the City Attorney’s office on several key factors for implementing the city’s Mobility Plan 2035 — an element of the General Plan initiated in 2016 to create a better environment for all forms of transportation in Los Angeles — with a focus on the Bicycle Enhanced Network, Bicycle Lane Network, and sidewalks in the Pedestrian Enhanced District.
