Blood Donations Are Down. Help Ease the Shortage This Sunday in Santa Monica
As the nation is in the throes of a blood shortage, The United Methodist Church at 1008 Eleventh Street in Santa Monica (90403), will host a much-needed blood drive this Sunday, April 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Simkins Hall. Every donation will be much appreciated.
CicLaVia Holds 51st Open Street Event on the Westside’s Venice Blvd.
Under a bright blue sky on the Westside, CicLAVia was a hit yet again. Almost six miles of Venice Boulevard was closed to cars from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, allowing bikers, pedestrians, and those riding alternative modes of transportation to fill the streets at the 51st CicLaVia event.
Non-profits Honored at Los Angeles Intergenerational Cookbook Celebration
If you are looking for more sources of home-cooked recipes, the city of Los Angeles will soon release a cookbook just for you. Jewish Family Services Los Angeles (JFSLA) was one of several organizations honored for their role in the first Intergenerational Cookbook Challenge held by the Los Angeles Department of Aging. Students in First through 12th grade and seniors around the city submitted recipes to compile the book, intending to compile recipes from Angelenos with diverse ages and cultural backgrounds.
Mayor Bass Delivers Second State of the City Address
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass delivered her State of the City address from City Hall on Monday evening. The Mayor touched on a wide range of issues, including climate change, the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, homelessness, improvements to L.A. Metro, and the launch of a new climate cabinet.
