What began with just four Democratic clubs in 2004 has blossomed into 14 area clubs plus the Democratic National Committee combining resources to support its 2024 Westside campaign office. One of West Hollywood’s most famous venues is getting a reimagining, but many neighbors made it known that they were not happy about it. The West Hollywood City Council approved a request with a 3-2 vote Monday to redevelop an approximately 1-acre parcel at 8550-8878 Sunset Boulevard where the Viper Room bar and music venue currently operates into an 11-story hotel and residential mixed-use project. The project will also incorporate restaurant and retail businesses into its model and will include several billboards to bring further income to the project site.
2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival Coming to West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 7, 2024) – The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival returns to West Hollywood Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates children’s literacy and fosters a love for reading for kids of all ages, presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting children’s bilingual literacy, along with the City of West Hollywood. This year’s festival will continue to offer a rich array of activities suitable for children of all ages, including over 70 exhibitors, live book readings by celebrated authors, interactive storytelling sessions, musical performances, arts and crafts, and other activities. There will be plenty of books and other interesting vendors, meet-and-greets with authors, face painting, photo booth, dancing, games, slime making, plenty of savory and sweet food trucks, free giveaways (including upcoming animation giveaways from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks), and much more. This year, the festival will also introduce new authors and illustrators, providing fresh perspectives and stories that captivate and inspire.
