Santa Monica Allows Boards And Commissions To Be Investigated, But Leak Lingers
After a tense discussion full of political barbs at its meeting Tuesday, the Santa Monica City Council voted to adopt a motion that subjects members of boards and commissions to the same administrative rules that city employees are bound by, allowing them to be investigated and potentially punished for violations like workplace abuse of city employees.

Hollywood Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) held a second in-person community meeting on Monday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (2011 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica) regarding three potential affordable housing developments in mid-city Santa Monica. Several parties involved with the development and potential management of the properties — including HCHC, The People’s Concern, and Kevin Daly Architects — made a presentation to a tense audience, many of whom had strong feelings against these developments.

The fundraising milestone, which far exceeded an internal campaign goal of $35,000, leaves the renter, Army veteran, and Santa Monica Pier Board member in a healthy position early in the election cycle. “A strong showing is vital for proving momentum and viability,” a campaign email to supporters stated ahead of the deadline.
