NEW ENDORSEMENTS POUR INTO NANCY BARBA’S CAMPAIGN FOR CULVER CITY COUNCIL
CULVER CITY, CA – August 26, 2024 – Nancy Barba has picked up six new endorsing organizations in her promising run for Culver City Council. California Democratic Renters Council, SEIU-UHW United Healthcare Workers West, Abundant Housing LA, Streets for All, Pilipino American Los Angeles Democrats, and Working Families Party joined Stonewall Democratic Club, Housing Action Coalition, Westside Young Democrats, Sierra Club, and Culver City Democratic Club in backing Barba, a climate leader, housing advocate, and equity champion with an extensive record of public service.
2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival Coming to West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 7, 2024) – The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival returns to West Hollywood Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates children’s literacy and fosters a love for reading for kids of all ages, presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting children’s bilingual literacy, along with the City of West Hollywood. This year’s festival will continue to offer a rich array of activities suitable for children of all ages, including over 70 exhibitors, live book readings by celebrated authors, interactive storytelling sessions, musical performances, arts and crafts, and other activities. There will be plenty of books and other interesting vendors, meet-and-greets with authors, face painting, photo booth, dancing, games, slime making, plenty of savory and sweet food trucks, free giveaways (including upcoming animation giveaways from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks), and much more. This year, the festival will also introduce new authors and illustrators, providing fresh perspectives and stories that captivate and inspire.
Do the Most Dance Company (DMDC) is Opening 9/3 on Westwood Blvd.!
Do the Most Dance Company or DMDC is opening Tuesday, September 3rd at 1256 Westwood Blvd! We are a competition dance company for ages 3-18. DMDC trains dancers with the motto “The best dancer in the room is the dancer having the most fun!” Dance in its purest form is a release of emotion, so along with the technique and choreography dancers will learn in our jazz, ballet, hip hop, acro, and lyrical classes, they will most importantly experience the strong mind and body connection that dance offers.
CITIZEN-LED MOVEMENT APPROVES VISIONARY HOUSING PROGRAM FOR CITY OF L.A.
LOS ANGELES—In a unanimous vote Thursday, the ULA Citizens Oversight Committee approved a set of permanent program guidelines that will help seniors stay in their homes, fund attorneys for renters threatened with eviction, keep affordable housing from reverting to market rate, launch social housing efforts in the city of Los Angeles and more.
