It was a tale of two halves for the UCLA Bruins Thursday night as they lost in crushing fashion to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Bruins have to be wondering how the Zags keep holding over them. While many will be quick to suggest how well the Bulldogs and star Drew Timme played, it felt much more like UCLA gave the game away.
UCLA Narrowly Hangs On Against Northwestern 68-63
UCLA hung on in a tight game against the Northwestern Wildcats, 68-63 on Saturday night in Sacramento. This game was a tale of two halves, as UCLA came out of the gate strong, but struggled to put the Wildcats away in the second half. Northwestern would hit the first basket of the game, a three, and that would be the only time they led the entire game. So while UCLA controlled the game, they definitely struggled at a number of points.
UCLA Easily Handles UNC Ashville in NCAA Tournament
Undoubtedly the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team came into their first game of the tournament in a bit of a downward funk. Firmly entrenched in the top ten all season, they failed to bring home the PAC-12 championship trophy, losing bitterly to rivals the University of Arizona. After a hopeful bid to get a number one seed failed, they learned they would be without two starters Adem Bona and Jaylin Clark. The Bruins absolutely came out fired up Thursday night and made no excuses as they soundly defeated UNC Asheville 86-53.
