Beverly Hills Men’s Hoops Bests Inglewood, 52-43
The Beverly Hills High School men’s basketball team tipped off against Inglewood High School Monday night, as the two evenly matched teams squared up for what was assumed to be a close game. Beverly Hills, led by head coach Jarvis Turner came into the game with a 12-10 record and sat second in the Ocean League. Inglewood, led by head coach Jason Porter, was 10-9 and was in third place in the league. A home game with the full band and cheer squads in effect gave Inglewood the possible edge in a tough matchup between two teams that had similar seasons so far. But after beating Inglewood by ten points earlier this month at home, the Normans fully expected to compete in this game.

With twelve minutes left in the first half, Inglewood Sentinels sophomore Kevin Weldekidan scored a goal against the Hawthorne Cougars during Friday’s game.
Assemblymember McKinnor Introduces Bill to End “Tough on Crime” Discriminatory Housing Policies
Assemblymember Tina McKinnor (D – Inglewood) introduced legislation last week that would end a decades-old law used to promote housing segregation and force unnecessary evictions in minority communities across California. Assembly Bill 1418 would end the state’s ill-worded and failed “crime-free” housing policies that have increased housing insecurity for residents across California.
State Agency to Monitor Air Quality of Inglewood Oil Fields
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced they will be studying air quality in the communities surrounding the legendary Inglewood Oil Fields (IOF) made famous by movies like Beverly Hills Cop II and L.A. Confidential. Commuters who use La Cienega to get to LAX know them well. The agency hopes to have two stationary monitoring trailers placed in the IOF by the end of 2022 to begin a 12-month study.
