A throng of supporters joined Nancy Barba at a Culver City neighbor’s home on Sunday, March 16th to kick-off her well-received campaign for City Council. Addressing one hundred supporters, Barba shared her inspiring vision for a sustainable Culver City, including her commitment to bold policies that will transform the city into a walkable and bikeable community, with equitable access to mass transit for everyone who lives, works, studies, visits, plays, and passes through Culver City.

A lengthy debate emerged on Monday evening at a meeting of the Culver City Council over whether the city should move forward with a grant application to a State agency called the Strategic Growth Council, whose website states it funds “A range of projects, from building capacity to constructing climate infrastructure.”

Almost three years after its city council first voted to phase police out of mental health calls, Culver City celebrated the upcoming debut of its Mobile Crisis Unit with a fair Tuesday centered around mental health resources in the courtyard of City Hall. The team of mental health professionals, clinicians, and case managers will respond to non-violent mental health calls in the city starting March 4.

On Friday, the Culver City Centaurs celebrated a win against the Peninsula Panthers, 16-9. The Centaurs embraced each other after the final whistle. After losing the season's first two games, they were clearly jubilant and chatty about their win.
