Proposed Interim RV Housing May Be Coming to The Westside
Westside Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky of Council District 5 and Valley Councilmember Bob Blumenfield introduced a motion at the Los Angeles City Council meeting Tuesday calling for city staff to explore the use of recreational vehicles to be used as interim housing located at three city-owned properties: The L.A. Department of Water and Power Distribution station #28 located at 11171 Nebraska Avenue, the Bel Air District Maintenance Yard located at 11165 Missouri Avenue, and the West Los Angeles Sewer Maintenance Yard at 11168 Missouri Avenue in district five which covers Bel Air, Beverly Crest, Century City, Fairfax District, Melrose, Palms, Sawtelle, and Westwood among others on the Westside.
L.A. City Council Approves Rent Increases of Up to Six Percent
The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to approve a motion limiting rent increases on rent-stabilized units at 4 percent, or up to 6 percent if landlords cover gas and electric costs starting February 1. Tuesday’s motion, introduced by Hugo Soto-Martinez, was prompted by a January 31, 2024 deadline in which the Covid-era rent freeze was due to expire.

At a packed Los Angeles City Council meeting Tuesday — the only one of the usually three regularly scheduled meetings taking place this week — the Los Angeles City Council approved several motions instructing city offices to begin planning programs related to assisting people experiencing homelessness and others in need of affordable housing.
