Beverly Hills High Men’s Volleyball Edges RFK Community School, 3 Games to Nil
On Wednesday, March 15 the Beverly Hills High Men’s Volleyball team took on the Robert F. Kennedy Community School (RFK) in a non-conference matchup and won. Led by head coach Kofi Yankey, the Normans showed up and defended their home court – where they have been strongest all season – and soundly beat the Bobcats 3 games to 0.
Ten Candidates Vying for Two Open Seats on the Beverly Hills City Council
Councilmember Lili Bosse and Mayor Dr. Julian Gold have served three terms on the city council and are termed out of running for re-election. The candidates competing to fill their seats are Craig Corman, Alissa Roston, Mary Wells, Sharon Persovski, Myra Demeter, Hamid Omrani, Nooshin Meshkaty, Tiffany Davis, Russell Stewart, and Robin Rowe. The following speaks a bit about each of them.
EDITORIAL: Judge Was Right to Penalize Beverly Hills Over Lack of Housing
Recently, L.A. Superior Court Judge Curtis A. Kin ruled that no residents of Beverly Hills can upgrade or re-design their homes, or add amenities like a swimming pool, until Beverly Hills agrees to zone for more multi-family housing. Despite what this may mean for the freedom of individual homeowners, we firmly agree with his decision. Nothing else seems to be persuading the defiant city council to budge.
Beverly Hills Men’s Hoops Bests Inglewood, 52-43
The Beverly Hills High School men’s basketball team tipped off against Inglewood High School Monday night, as the two evenly matched teams squared up for what was assumed to be a close game. Beverly Hills, led by head coach Jarvis Turner came into the game with a 12-10 record and sat second in the Ocean League. Inglewood, led by head coach Jason Porter, was 10-9 and was in third place in the league. A home game with the full band and cheer squads in effect gave Inglewood the possible edge in a tough matchup between two teams that had similar seasons so far. But after beating Inglewood by ten points earlier this month at home, the Normans fully expected to compete in this game.
