Kathryn Stelmach Artuso (Ph.D. English, UCLA) is the author of an eclectic assortment of academic articles and books, including Transatlantic Renaissances: Literature of Ireland and the American South. Yet she often missed writing for a wider audience and is excited to be returning to journalism. Before graduate school, she enjoyed working as a staff writer for three daily newspapers: the Lexington Herald-Leader, the North County Times, and The Californian. Her recent work as a freelance journalist can be found in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and Mockingbird magazine. A native of Southern California, she loves the ocean and cannot bear to spend too much time away from the beach or a view of the horizon.
