“Maybe, Baby,” by Domino Whisker is a whimsical solo piece showcasing hand-embroidered and tufted tapestry work. An exhibition that looks at her childhood spent in Los Angeles, with detail and emotional depth, and effortlessly blends personal stories with universal themes. ARCANE Space presents the work of a wide range of artists, both those of note and those who may not have had the chance to exhibit.

The Mr. Black Espresso Martini Fest has returned for its third year, bringing together 250 bars nationwide to celebrate the beloved libation. In Los Angeles, specials can be found across the city. The Los Angeles Korean Festival is going on its fifty-first year and this year’s four-day-long edition honors the rich traditions of Korea while embracing the diversity of Los Angeles through local vendors and performances of all kinds. With food, shopping, and experiences galore, including a K-Pop contest, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Dust off your lederhosen and lace up your dirndls, the Bavarian celebration of Oktoberfest will be honored at Wurstküche’s Venice location for five consecutive weekends. Taps will be flowing and there will be yodeling. Tickets include a one-liter stein filled with Oktoberfest bier. All ages are welcome, but the Sunday, October 20th seating is recommended for families with children.

FIG is collaborating with Dr. Alexandra Lourdes, the trailblazing entrepreneur and co-founder of renowned Café Lola and Saint Honoré Donuts. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the unique tasting menu will spotlight the vibrant flavors and traditions of Latin cuisine with a modern twist. Focusing on the arts of Western Europe, Lumen explores how the science of light was studied by Christian, Jewish, and Muslim philosophers, theologians, and artists during the “long Middle Ages” (800-1600 CE). During this period, science served as the connective thread for diverse cultures across Europe and the Mediterranean, uniting scholars who inherited, translated, and improved upon a common foundation of ancient Greek scholarship. Inspired by the 1991 film beloved for its satiric and romantic foray into the land of Los Angeles swimming pools, Hollywood “machers,” earthquakes, freeways, and extravagant sunsets, Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood presents the group exhibition of “L.A. Story.” The exhibit brings together a cross-generational array of works by artists whose depictions of L.A. reverberate with the movie’s celebration of a place like no other.

As the popularity of lowrider culture has grown in the U.S. and abroad, the skills involved in creating the vehicle have similarly advanced, with builders, painters, and metalworkers reaching new levels of artistry and craftsmanship. The Petersen Automotive Museum has honored this evolution since its first exhibit on lowriding in 2000 and continues to acknowledge the culture’s contributions to automotive history.
