“Vegas Concierge” tells the tale of domestic sex trafficking in America through the riveting inside story of a decade-long investigation into the trade, police corruption, and hip-hop music in Sin City. A layered saga, “Concierge” uses public and private records as well as exclusive, first-person accounts from primary sources to show how prostitutes and pimps apply their trade, how police and the FBI trip on themselves and their investigations become compromised, and how self-interest corrupts throughout the corridors of power.

More than 75 percent of the world’s best surf breaks are in areas where highly biodiverse ecosystems like coral reefs, coastal forests, and mangroves are in critical need of protection. These irreplaceable marine and coastal ecosystems are threatened by unsustainable development, habitat destruction, pollution, and climate change. Breath(e) artist Michael Joo joins Scott Atkinson, Chad Nelsen, and Glenn Kaino to discuss how the surf community’s deep connection to the ocean can be harnessed for innovative approaches to ocean conservation.

“Arms Around America” is a community-based theater project that investigates how Americans experience fear, power, identity, loss, and love through our relationships with guns. This world premiere performance is staged as a live radio-theater broadcast. Four actors will voice dozens of characters in a constellation of short plays based on real families whose lives have been shaped by guns. They are accompanied by a sound effects artist (Dan Froot) and a live band playing Julio Montero’s driving score.

Louis Stern Fine Arts is pleased to present a series of rarely seen works by Doug Ohlson, created during 1969 and the first half of the 1970s. The paintings, consisting of brilliant orbs of brushed and aerosol paint that hover on richly colored backgrounds, represent a transitional phase in the artist’s career. Acting as a vehicle for his developing investigations of chromatic relationships, these process-based works facilitated Ohlson’s changing focus to color as his primary subject matter.
