Miracle Mile, one of West L.A.’s crown jewels, is known for its diverse cultural offerings, historical landmarks, and world-class museums. Here are some of the top things to do in Miracle Mile.

Indulge in Retail Therapy at Miracle Mile Farmers Market

The Miracle Mile Farmers Market is a weekly open-air market held every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The lively market is home to stalls by farmers retailing a range of fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Visitors can also find baked goods, cheeses, meats, seafood, and prepared foods. Additionally, the market features stalls by many local vendors, including artisans and craftspeople. The Miracle Mile Farmers Market is my go-to spot for fresh produce and unique gifts such as attractive home goods and clothing.

Lunch at Fanny’s, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

Fanny’s, the chic eatery within the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, offers a distinctive Hollywood-themed dining experience. Named after the legendary Fanny Brice, the restaurant’s interiors pay homage to Hollywood’s golden age. It boasts a two-story, 10,000-square-foot space designed by the late architect Osvaldo Maiozzi. With its striking design, thoughtfully curated Californian cuisine menu, and thoughtful service, Fanny’s is the ideal eatery for a leisurely lunch. Signature dishes are Finding Salmon, Fanny Brice Burger, Lobster Confidential, Meatballs Named Desire, and Gone With the Ceaser. I ordered the Fanny Brice Burger ($26), served with aged cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, remoulade, and fries. The burger patty was perfectly cooked and hit the spot.

Explore World-class Museums

In addition to the Academy Museum, the Miracle Mile is home to museums that attract art, history, and science enthusiasts. At the heart of the Miracle Mile lies the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), an expansive complex that houses an extensive global collection of art. For those captivated by the prehistoric world, the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum is a must-visit. For automotive enthusiasts, the Petersen Automotive Museum is a dream come true.

Check out an Event at the Korean Cultural Center

Established in 1980, this center is run by the Korean government’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and serves as a cultural bridge between Korea and the United States. It hosts a wide range of programs and exhibitions that exhibit the best of Korean art, music, dance, film, literature, and cuisine. Guests can explore authentic Korean crafts and artifacts, learn about the history and customs of Korea, and immerse themselves in Korean culture through performances, workshops, and classes.

Delectable Dinner at Apollonia’s Pizzeria

Apollonia’s Pizzeria is a casual eatery well-loved for its mouthwatering specialty pies and innovative toppings. Some popular pizza options include the Pepperoni Square Slice, the Mayor’s Mistress, and the Viva la Vegan. I tried the Mayor’s Mistress ($20.45), a delicious square pizza consisting of pepperoni, Italian sausage, organic Roma tomatoes, and fresh basil. This lip-smacking pizza instantly transported me to the streets of Sicily.

Catch a Show at the El Rey Theatre

Originally opened in 1936 as a movie theater, the El Rey Theatre has undergone a fascinating transformation, evolving into one of West Los Angeles’ most renowned music venues. The theater’s Art Deco architecture, conceptualized by Clifford A. Balch, is awe-inspiring. Its majestic staircases, grand lobby, and ornate details craft a welcoming and glamorous setting. Over the years, the El Rey has hosted diverse musical genres, from rock and roll to punk to hip-hop. Moreover, it has been featured in several films and television shows.

Nightcap at Videre Rooftop Restaurant & Bar

Located atop the Kimpton Hotel Wilshire, Videre Rooftop Restaurant & Bar offers a trendy ambiance and beautiful city vistas. Its elegant interiors, decorated with sumptuous seating, warm lighting, and chic décor, create an inviting atmosphere where visitors can unwind while indulging in refreshing handcrafted cocktails. The rooftop bar’s extensive cocktail list consists of an eclectic selection of handcrafted drinks, expertly concocted using premium spirits and fresh ingredients.
