CULVER CITY, CA – October 23, 2024 – Bryan “Bubba” Fish has received an endorsement from Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes Culver City.

“Bubba is dedicated to making Culver City a place where everyone can thrive,” said Kamlager-Dove. “He will be a thoughtful, consensus-building voice and an advocate for us all. I’m proud to support him for Culver City Council.”

“I am honored to receive Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove’s support,” Fish responded. “She has been a champion for women’s rights, healthcare access, and criminal justice reform. We are proud to have her representing Culver City in the nation’s capital.”

Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove is the latest addition to a long list of endorsements for Bubba’s campaign across federal, state, county, and local levels, including California State Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, State Assemblymember Isaac Bryan, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell who all represent Culver City.

More than thirty organizations have also endorsed Bubba’s campaign so far, representing a range of labor, environmental, housing, and LGBTQ+ groups, as well as nine local Democratic clubs. Backers include the Sierra Club, SEIU United Healthcare Workers, Equality California, and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

Bubba Fish has built his campaign on a record of public service and community action. He currently serves as a transportation deputy for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, working to make streets safer, and expand access to transportation.

The candidate has made housing a top priority, pledging to address Culver City’s housing and homelessness crises if elected to the City Council. As an advocate and volunteer, he served for several years as Vice Chair of Culver City’s Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee, helped conduct the city’s annual homeless count for three years, and actively supported the creation of several projects that provide homes for previously unhoused families.

Fish also co-created and organized Culver City’s first and only official Pride celebration–Culver City Pride Ride & Rally, now an annual event in its fourth year and still the largest Pride Ride in the region. He would be the youngest person serving on the Culver City Council, and only the second openly LGBTQ+ person elected to the Council in the city’s 100+ year history.

Graduating from UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs in June 2024, Fish earned a Master’s in Public Policy with a concentration in Housing, Transportation, and Urban Policy.

Bubba’s campaign has raised an impressive $95,000 from over 900 individual donations, averaging less than $100 each, swearing off contributions from fossil fuel, police, and real estate development companies or organizations. Special interest PACs have responded by spending over $200,000 to defeat him in this election.

Ballots for the election have already been mailed to voters. Culver City residents have until Tuesday, November 5, 2024 to vote.
