In the world premiere of A Woman Named Gloria, playwright and CASA 0101 theater founding artistic director, Josefina López, brings the spirit of Gloria Molina to life by having her appear to a young woman grappling with a personal crisis. The young woman is captivated by Molina’s story, how she became a woman of firsts in a journey or resilience and defiance against adversity to become a Chicana trailblazer. The play is a tribute to the life and achievements of the real Molina.

MUSE/IQUE presents the story of the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino in the year 1955 when the hotel had its name up in neon lights. The story follows the incredible under-told true account of the first-ever fully integrated hotel and casino in the country. Just ten miles from the Vegas Strip (which catered exclusively to white guests), the Moulin Rouge was a diamond in the rough. Attracting a who’s who of late-night patrons, including those like Sammy Davis Jr., Harry Belafonte, Judy Garland, and Frank Sinatra, the hotel sparked a new vision of people living, working, and making art together.

With bold cues, vivid language, and gripping dramatic conflict, Memnon, tells the story of a powerful Ethiopian king who journeys to the city of Troy to engage in battle during the Trojans’ darkest hour. This epic tale from Greek mythology has been overlooked for far too long, until now. Put on by the Classical Theatre of Harlem, an American theater company that tells stories through the lens of the African diaspora, Memnon is sure to bring a new perspective to audiences.

In this unique mashup opera of Jules Massenet and Gioacchino Rossini’s Cinderella story takes center stage. The six-performance run kicks off Saturday, September 7 and shows will be held every Saturday and Sunday through September 22. Attendance is free, but seating is first-come, first-served and RSVP is requested at the link above. Presented by Pacific Opera Project and the City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division, this reimagined piece blends the best of Massenet’s Cendrillon and Rossini’s Cenerentola with POP’s signature style.
