The Culver City Federation of Teachers, the union representing Teachers, School Counselors, School Nurses, Program Specialists and Inclusion Specialists in the Culver City Unified School District has endorsed Lindsay Carlson for a seat on the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education in this November’s election. CCFT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, California Federation of Teachers and AFL-CIO.
Ray Long, President of CCFT stated that “Ms. Carlson represents the real change that is needed on the board. Ms. Carlson has taken the time to understand the issues that affect our educators and students and clearly understands that employee working conditions affect student’s learning conditions”.
A Culver City resident for a decade, Ms. Carlson is a mother of a six year-old son who attended El Rincon for TK, and currently attends El Marino Language School. She has served on the El Rincon School Site Council and been an active member of the El Marino PTA. Ms. Carlson has been a lead organizer of a group of parents and community members who have pushed for concrete and meaningful action to improve education in CCUSD and restore trust between the community and the district.
Ms. Carlson has practiced law in Los Angeles for the past 20 years, formerly as a litigator and currently as internal counsel for an international law firm overseeing a team of attorneys who handle a variety of information governance issues and ensure the firm’s management of information meets applicable legal, ethical, security and privacy requirements everywhere it operates around the world. She has also served on the Board of the National Association of Women Lawyers since 2019.
Ms. Carlson is backed by over 100 Culver City community members, and is the only candidate supported by a majority of the Culver City Council and Culver City Democrats United – the newest and largest Democratic Club in Culver City. She has also received the Moms Demand Action “Gun Sense” Candidate Distinction and has been endorsed by the Heart of LA Democratic Club, the county’s first countywide feminist Democratic Club.
