Celebrating Children’s Literacy and Fostering a Love for Reading

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA (August 7, 2024) – The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival returns to West Hollywood Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates children’s literacy and fosters a love for reading for kids of all ages, presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting children’s bilingual literacy, along with the City of West Hollywood. This year’s festival will continue to offer a rich array of activities suitable for children of all ages, including over 70 exhibitors, live book readings by celebrated authors, interactive storytelling sessions, musical performances, arts and crafts, and other activities. There will be plenty of books and other interesting vendors, meet-and-greets with authors, face painting, photo booth, dancing, games, slime making, plenty of savory and sweet food trucks, free giveaways (including upcoming animation giveaways from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks), and much more. This year, the festival will also introduce new authors and illustrators, providing fresh perspectives and stories that captivate and inspire.

Children of all ages will enjoy performances by The BeatBuds (Nickelodeon), Chloé and Maud Arnold from The Syncopated Ladies (Emmy award nominated female tap dance troupe), Sole Talks (International youth tap dance company), Love Bug & Me, a live art installation by artist Juan Muniz, along with a special appearance from Mykal-Michelle Harris from Disney Junior’s Ariel and star of the upcoming Raven’s Home spinoff Alice in the Palace, as well as other special guests and giveaways.

Book Soup and Children’s Book World have joined this year’s Los Angeles Kids Book Festival in order to enhance the experience with author autograph sessions and book readings with popular children’s authors, including Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen. The event promises to enrich the cultural landscape of Los Angeles by celebrating the vibrant world of children’s literature and promoting literacy among young readers.

The American Born Chinese Foundation is a vibrant public charity committed to nurturing bilingual literacy and celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) pride. Through its initiatives, the foundation seeks to empower young readers by promoting bilingualism and fostering cultural understanding.

The Los Angeles Kids Book Festival, held annually in West Hollywood, is dedicated to promoting children’s literacy, celebrating young authors, and providing a platform for families to explore the enchanting world of books.
