CULVER CITY, CA – July 24, 2024 – Adding to her campaign’s growing number of supporters,
Culver City Council candidate Nancy Barba was honored with an endorsement from the Sierra
Club, a leading 132-year-old environmental organization with 3.8 million members.

The Angeles Chapter’s David Haake congratulated Barba on the Sierra Club’s support for her
campaign, thanking the candidate for her leadership in Culver City. “Our endorsement sends a
message of your strong support for the environment and your proven track record in
environmental issues,” Haake said.

“My values and vision are informed by climate change mitigation, climate adaptation, equity,
justice, inclusion, and anti-racism,” said Barba. “I am a climate practitioner who directs building
decarbonization and energy efficiency market transformation programs for a living, which gives
me a unique set of qualifications to lead the city into a low-carbon future.”

The first-time City Council candidate describes herself as, “a proud urban environmentalist” who
recognizes “the importance of planning for the future with smart growth strategies.” Barba’s
knowledge of environmental issues is informed by her professional achievements working with
government and utility clients to deliver decarbonization and energy efficiency programs.

Nancy Barba is a mom, a wife, and a first-generation Latina who believes in building consensus
to solve problems. She is a climate leader, a housing advocate, and an equity champion who
has dedicated herself to improving life in Culver City for all.

Barba’s extensive past public service includes serving as a Culver City Planning Commission
Chair, Culver City Finance Advisory Committee Member, a Culver City Pride Ride and Rally
Steering Committee Member, a Rancho Higuera Neighborhood Association Board Member,
President of the MOMS Club of Culver City East, Co-President of the Samuel Goldwyn
Foundation Children’s Center Parent Advisory League, and a Walk and Roller Committee CoChair at El Marino Language School.
