Residents in a northern San Diego County neighborhood were asked to shelter in place Tuesday afternoon following a police chase in Carlsbad, authorities said.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, officers initiated a traffic stop around 1 p.m. in the Solamar Mobile Estates community near Sea Breeze Drive and Easy Street. The individual involved fled the scene on foot, prompting officers to pursue and establish a perimeter in the surrounding area.
As a precaution, police asked residents to remain inside their homes and to keep doors and windows closed while officers searched the neighborhood.
