Los Angeles police said officers responded Wednesday to a 911 call reporting “unknown trouble” at a residence in Tarzana. When first responders arrived, they found Handy, 81, unconscious in the front garden of the home with multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Arrest
LAPD identified the suspect as Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy’s girlfriend. Police said Gledhill lived at the home with his mother.
According to investigators, the initial 911 caller stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Police said Gledhill later flagged down officers in the area and told them he was the person they were seeking.
Gledhill was taken into custody and booked at the Van Nuys Jail on one count of murder. Bail was set at $2 million.
