A Las Vegas judge has set bail at $100,000 for a man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a skateboarder in the northwest part of the valley.
Elijah Malone made his first court appearance Friday, days after his arrest in connection with a fatal collision that occurred last month.

Malone was arrested on July 2 following an investigation into a June 5 crash that killed 29-year-old Ivan Aguilera. The collision happened near Oso Blanca Road and Montecito Pointe Drive in northwest Las Vegas, according to police.
Investigators said Aguilera was riding a skateboard when he was struck by a Ram pickup truck traveling south on Oso Blanca Road. The driver did not remain at the scene.
Investigation
According to an arrest report, police were able to identify the suspect vehicle after receiving a tip from a bystander. That information led investigators to locate the pickup truck and trace it back to its registered owner, which ultimately resulted in Malone’s arrest.

During Friday’s hearing, prosecutors requested that bail be set at $200,000. They also asked the court to impose high-level electronic monitoring if Malone were to be released.
