Teens on E-Bikes Brutally Attack Man in His 60s in Hermosa Beach

A disturbing assault in Hermosa Beach has sparked outrage after a group of teenagers riding electric bikes attacked a man in his 60s as he walked home with a pizza. The violent incident, which occurred Friday night, was captured on multiple surveillance cameras and is now the focus of an active police investigation.

Ambushed in a Narrow Alley One Block From the Pier

The assault happened around 8 p.m. on November 21 in the 11th Court alley, just steps from the bustling pier area. According to witnesses, five or six teens surrounded the victim as he walked home from a restaurant carrying a pizza box.

Moments later, the teens punched, kicked, and stomped the man, leaving him unresponsive on the ground. Bystanders immediately called 911, and officers arrived within minutes, finding the victim unconscious. He was transported to a nearby hospital with what neighbors described as a severe concussion.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department confirmed the attack and noted that detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from multiple angles.

Witness: “They Wanted to Get Someone”

Matt Terrill, a local resident who reviewed surveillance video, said the teens appeared to have planned the assault.

“They met up here five minutes before and were talking about doing something. They wanted to ‘get someone,’” Terrill told FOX 11.

He added that one teenager approached the victim and asked for pizza. As the man responded, the rest of the group closed in and launched the attack.

After beating him, the teens fled the alley on their e-bikes, reportedly believing the victim was dead—an alarming statement captured on video.

Police Asking for Information, Warn Against Posting Suspect Images

In a written statement, police said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation:

“The Hermosa Beach Police Department is aware of videos circulating online depicting an assault that occurred on November 21, 2025.”

Detectives are asking anyone with additional video, photos, or eyewitness details to email them directly at ndigenova@hermosabeach.gov.
Authorities also cautioned residents not to post images of the suspects online, warning that viral circulation could compromise the investigation.

The department is working closely with local agencies and the Los Angeles County system (hyperlink: LA County government website) to identify the teenagers involved.

Community Demands Accountability

This attack is just the latest in a series of troubling incidents in Hermosa Beach involving groups of teens on e-bikes. Previous reports documented teens launching fireworks into crowds and punching unsuspecting pedestrians along The Strand.

Residents say enough is enough.

“Where are the parents? Where are the parents of those children doing that?” said South Bay resident Mary Nimptsch.

Terrill echoed the sentiment:
“The parents that buy them the tools that let them commit these crimes — those parents need to be held accountable.”

Victim Recovering as Investigation Continues

Neighbors say the victim has since been released from the hospital, though the extent of his injuries is still unknown. Police are working to identify each suspect and determine whether charges—including assault or attempted homicide—may apply.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities expect to release updates as more information becomes available.
