A Sunday afternoon explosion tore through a home in Chino Hills, injuring eight people and forcing temporary evacuations as emergency crews rushed to the scene. According to the Chino Valley Fire District, the blast occurred around 3:44 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sierra Vista Drive, collapsing the home and damaging nearby houses.
Sixteen residents from surrounding properties were evacuated as a precaution, though officials later allowed them to return once the area was secured. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
Four of the injured were transported to a local hospital, while four others went on their own, officials said. No details have been released yet about the severity of the injuries.
Images from the scene showed the home heavily damaged, with debris scattered across the property. While neighboring houses sustained only minor damage, fire officials emphasized that investigators are still working to determine what triggered the blast.
