Traffic
The crash caused major delays for Bay Bridge commuters during the Thursday morning commute.
Traffic backed up along westbound Interstate 80 as emergency crews and investigators worked in the area near the toll plaza.
According to authorities, the right lane remained closed for several hours following the crash investigation.
Caltrans later confirmed that the lane reopened at approximately 8:40 a.m.
Drivers heading into San Francisco were advised to expect delays throughout the morning.
Safety
Motorcycle crashes on major highways can become especially dangerous when riders are thrown into active traffic lanes.
