Two San Diego residents have been arrested in connection with the 2025 assault and death of a man found inside his motorhome in Spring Valley, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said the arrests stem from a January 2025 assault that left 52-year-old Ruben Cervantes fatally injured. Cervantes was attacked inside his motorhome in the 500 block of Sweetwater Road but was not discovered until several days later.
The case was investigated by the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit after the county medical examiner determined the death was a homicide.
Timeline
According to investigators, Cervantes was physically assaulted inside his motorhome on Jan. 19, 2025. Deputies were not alerted until Jan. 23, when Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station deputies and fire department personnel responded to a medical aid call at the location.
First responders attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced Cervantes dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that Cervantes died as a result of injuries connected to the assault four days earlier.
Investigation
Following the autopsy, the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit conducted an extended investigation to identify those responsible. Detectives eventually identified two suspects in the case.
Authorities named the suspects as Adrian Garcia, 28, and Issac Santana, 26, both residents of the City of San Diego.
Arrests
Garcia and Santana were arrested on June 3, 2026. Both were booked into the San Diego County Central Jail.
Sheriff’s officials said both men are facing murder charges in connection with Cervantes’ death. Additional details regarding their court appearances or bond status were not immediately released.
