A Routine Shopping Trip Ends in Arrests at Camarillo Ross Store

A 37-year-old woman and four juvenile boys from Los Angeles were arrested in Camarillo on suspicion of felony retail theft and conspiracy following an incident at a Ross store, authorities said.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Ross store in Camarillo at about 2:37 p.m. on June 11 after receiving a report of theft. Investigators say four male juveniles ran out of the store carrying clothing and shoes valued at approximately $500 without paying.

Incident

Captain Kevin Kipp said the juveniles entered a vehicle after leaving the store. The vehicle was later stopped by officers with the Port Hueneme Police Department. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the stop and took the minors into custody.

Authorities said the juveniles were cited on suspicion of felony retail theft and conspiracy. They were later released to their guardians and are expected to appear in court at a later date.

Arrest

A 37-year-old woman who was with the juveniles was also arrested in connection with the incident. She was booked into the Ventura County jail on suspicion of felony retail theft and conspiracy. Jail records show her bail was set at $20,000.

The woman is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on June 15.

Investigation

Officials did not release additional details about the relationship between the woman and the juveniles or whether further charges could be filed. The case remains under investigation.

Authorities reminded the public that organized retail theft investigations often involve coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies, particularly when suspects are stopped outside the original jurisdiction.
