Three people are in custody following a reported vehicle theft at gunpoint in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood early Monday, according to the Denver Police Department. The case unfolded over several hours, beginning before dawn and ending with arrests later in the morning.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and details about the suspects and potential charges are still being finalized.
Incident
Just before 3 a.m. Monday, Denver police responded to a report of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint near East 10th Avenue and Broadway. Officers said the theft occurred in the Capitol Hill area, a neighborhood that includes a mix of residential buildings and late-night activity.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., police located the stolen vehicle in the 900 block of Grant Street. Authorities did not immediately say whether the vehicle was occupied at the time it was found.

Several hours later, officers continued searching for the suspects connected to the reported carjacking. Around 8 a.m., police were seen near East 10th Avenue and Logan Street, where they were attempting to contact individuals believed to be involved.
By about 9 a.m., Denver police confirmed that three people were taken into custody after being found inside an apartment. Police have not released the identities of those detained.

According to police, two of the three individuals are expected to be held for investigation of aggravated robbery. The status of the third person has not yet been clarified.
Investigators have not shared additional details about the firearm reportedly used in the incident or whether anyone was injured.
