A traffic collision that occurred earlier this month in the south Las Vegas valley has resulted in a fatality, authorities confirmed this week. A 62-year-old woman from Henderson died several days after being injured in a crash near the intersection of East Pyle Avenue and South Maryland Parkway.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the woman died on May 15 at a local hospital. Her name has not been released as police are still notifying family members.

Crash

According to police, the collision happened around 11:30 a.m. on May 9 near the intersection of East Pyle Avenue and South Maryland Parkway, a heavily traveled area in the south valley.

The Henderson woman was driving a 2023 Ford Explorer. Investigators said her vehicle collided with a 2023 Kia Soul at the intersection. The woman and two other women who were inside the Kia were all transported to a hospital following the crash.

At the time, police said the Ford driver’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigation

In a news release, Metro police said the driver’s injuries initially did not meet the criteria for the department’s Fatal Detail to respond. However, police were notified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday that the woman had died from her injuries several days after the crash.

A preliminary investigation found that the Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Maryland Parkway when the driver attempted to make a left turn across traffic. The front of the Kia Soul collided with the right front of the Ford, police said.

The Collision Investigation Section continues to review the case. No further details about potential contributing factors have been released.

Impact

Police confirmed that the woman’s death marks the 52nd traffic-related fatality within Metro’s jurisdiction so far in 2026. Authorities have not indicated whether any citations have been issued or whether impairment or speed are suspected factors.

LVMPD said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information will be released if it becomes available.
